After the verdict, I was finally able to meet a friend I had been prohibited from seeing during my bail period. Combining the time spent in Shinjuku detention center, Tokyo detention house and on bail, it had been nearly ten months since we last saw each other. It was great to hear that his work was going well and to catch up on good news.
I got to hear his perspective as a German. First, he found it inconceivable that the media would gather to take photos during an arrest. He couldn’t imagine capturing and spreading images of someone whose sentence hasn’t been finalized. This practice is unique to Japan, where the media often acts as a puppet of those in power. Such behavior is unthinkable in Germany. Considering Japan’s media is often ranked low among developed nations, it’s no surprise that they comply with state-sanctioned human rights violations when ordered.
Second, I was shocked I heard from him that there are the fabricated interviews. He had seen a news report online featuring an interview with a resident of Okinawa claiming that SumoPay had ruined their life. The smell of fabrication was strong. While it’s understandable that gambling can ruin lives, it’s hard to believe that a payment processing company would have such an impact. If a person with such low intelligence exists, they might not accurately understand why their life went off track and might incorrectly blame the payment processor. However, it’s more likely that this interview was a concoction by the police and the media.
Given this, it no longer makes sense to broadcast the antics of Japan’s power and media from an international perspective. I’ve decided to gradually expose these realities to the outside world.

判決後、会うことが禁止されていた友人と会って食事をすることが出来た。彼とは保釈中は会うことを禁止されていたので、勾留・拘禁・保釈を合わせると10ヶ月近くぶりにあった。彼も仕事が順調そうでいい話が色々と聞けて良かったと思う。
ドイツ人としての彼の意見を聞けた。まず、逮捕時にマスコミが集まって写真を撮るのは考えられないそうだ。まだ、刑も確定していない人物の顔を撮影して記事にしてばらまくのは考えられないとのことだ。これは、日本のマスコミが権力のポチだから起こることであるが、ドイツでは考えられないそうだ。まぁ、日本のマスコミは先進国でも下の方だからこのようなことが起こっても仕方がない。権力が人権侵害をやれといえばやるのがマスコミである。
２点目に、インタビューの捏造があったことに驚いた。彼はネットニュースで観たそうだが、SumoPayで人生を狂わされたという沖縄在住の人物のインタビューがあったそうだ。これは、非常に捏造の臭いが強い。ギャンブルで狂うのはわかるが、決済代行会社でなんで人生が狂うのか理解に苦しむ。その程度の知性しかない人間がいたとしたら、何で自分が狂ってしまったのかを正確に言えないだろうから決済代行が原因だと言ってしまうのかもしれない、が実際は警察とメディアのタッグで創作したインタビューであることは間違いないだろう。
国際感覚からすればかなりの離れ業をやっている権力とメディアを日本に向けて発信するのはもう意味がないだろう。僕は、海外にこの実態を少しずつ発信していくことにしようと思う。
