In a detention center, there’s a limit on the number of books that can be delivered. Only three books can be sent per day on weekdays, and none are delivered on weekends or public holidays, leaving the detainees with plenty of free time during those days.
In other words, while deliveries are accepted at the detention center year-round, the rule is that only three books are handed over on weekdays. Because of this “three books on weekdays” rule, some people believe it’s acceptable to send three books at a time, and they diligently do so. This is correct.
However, it’s also acceptable to send up to 10 books at once. Although this might seem strange, rest assured that from those 10 books, only three will be handed over each weekday, so it’s not an issue. While this might annoy the detention center staff, there have been instances where detainees received the entire One Piece series (all 107 volumes) in one go.
To my friends who might see this article if I’m detained again: Please send me a complete box set of manga! That way, even though the food might be bad, I can still have a manga paradise! (Just kidding.) I especially love 90s manga like Naoki Urasawa’s MONSTER, Dragon Head, Shonan Junai Gumi, BOYS BE…, and Outer Zone. We had great discussions about manga, bringing out all the coolest titles.
Also, receiving items while in detention became a point of pride for me. Some detainees had no one to send them anything, nor did anyone come to visit them. Meanwhile, I received so many items that I was the envy of others. I want to take this opportunity to express my deep gratitude to everyone who sent me something.
By the way, the same system is used in the detention center as in the prison. Or rather, it might be that the detention center’s operations are based on those of the prison. However, there’s one difference: if you send the complete One Piece series to a prison, it will be returned, so please send them three at a time instead.
Well, I’ll be extra careful not to end up there again!
留置場の差入
留置場は差入られる本の冊数が決まっている。平日のみ1日3冊の差入れが認められる。土日祝日は差し入れされた本が入らない。なので、ものすごく暇になる。
つまり、差し入れ自体は留置場で年中受付されているが、交付が平日のみ3冊というルールなのだ。「平日のみ交付が3冊」なので一般の方は3冊ずつなら送っても良いと考えてしまい、まめに3冊ずつ送っているようだ。正しい。
だが実は、いっぺんに10冊送っても良い。不思議に思うかもしれないが、10冊の在庫の中から平日に3冊ずつ交付されるだけなので大丈夫だ。運用上、留置職員には嫌がられてしまうかもしれない・・・が、実際にワンピース全巻（107巻）をまとめて送ってもらっている被留置人もいた。
僕がまた留置された時に、この記事を見てくれた仲間に告ぐ。漫画コンプリートを箱で送ってくれ！そうすればメシマズなだけの漫画天国になる！（嘘）90年代の漫画がいいなぁ 笑。
浦沢直樹のMONSTERやドラゴンヘッド、湘南純愛組、BOYS BE…、アウターゾーンなど漫画の話で相当盛り上がったなぁ。渋い線をみんなで捻り出した。
あと、僕宛の留置場への差入れは一つの自慢になっていた。やはり、寂しい境遇の被留置人もおり、差し入れば全く入らないし面会にも来てくれる人もいないような方々もいる中、僕はたくさんの差し入れにより羨望の眼差しを向けられていた。改めて、送ってくれた皆様に感謝を申したい。
ちなみに拘置所もほぼ同じシステムで運用されている。というより、拘置所の運用に準じて留置場の運用が決まっているのかもしれない。ただし、違いがあるとすれば、拘置所への差し入れでワンピース全巻は受付されず返送されてしまうので注意。その時は申し訳ないが、3冊ずつ送ってくれないだろうか？
いや、もう行かないように全力で気をつけるね！
